14. Can the powerlines be buried under the Steptoe Street Extension?
The Cities of Kennewick and Richland contacted the Benton Public Utility District (PUD) regarding the feasibility and cost to put the overhead power lines underground. A copy of the letter received from Benton PUD is found in the Reference Information folder on the website. It is unlikely that these costs would be eligible for State and/or Federal funding, and are considerably higher than the Cities can justify. The Cities are investigating relocation of the poles to a center median.
