26. After the planning project is complete, what is the anticipated schedule to building the Steptoe Street Extension?
The planning project will result in a 30% design of the roadway improvements together with the supporting environmental documents. The City of Kennewick will continue the roadway design to the 90% stage and administer right of way acquisition and grade separation design. Coordination with the City of Richland will continue during this process. The estimated total cost of the project is $13.5 million. The estimate will be updated as the design progresses. If successful in obtaining State and/or Federal funds, and after securing necessary permits and right-of-way, it is possible that construction of the roadway could begin in late 2007.
The Cities will maintain the Steptoe Street website with the latest information about the project after completion of this planning study.
